(April 2009) The Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) has reaffirmed accreditation of Payne Theological Seminary for a period of TEN years (Fall 2018)! Payne Theological Seminary is an institution of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and is the nation’s oldest freestanding, accredited African American Seminary. Special commendation is extended to Dr. Leah Gaskin Fitchue, President, the staff, faculty, students, supporting Episcopal Districts, and the Board of Trustees, Bishop Vinton Randolph Anderson, chair.
