2024 General Conference Information

General Conference will be held in Columbus Ohio from August 21st through the 28th, 2024

At the 2023 AME General Board Meeting in New Orleans, LA , registration for the 2024 General Conference will open and upon registration hotel rooms will become available to the registered person.

Observers:
$165 – June 12, 2023 – Dec. 31, 2023

$170 – January 1, 2024 – March 31, 2024

$175 – April 1, 2024, until start of Registration at 2024 General Conference
Note: The listed rates apply to registrants with Member Cards. Rates are higher for registrants without Member Cards.

Active Military
$165 – Rate does NOT increase on-site at the General Conference

Student with Valid ID:
$50 – Must have AME Member Card to get discount. Rate does not increase on-site at
the General Conference

Youth – (Age 5-18):
$25 – Rate does NOT increase on-site at the General Conference

Delegates and Alternates:
Register through their Episcopal District Office

An accurate list of elected General Conference Delegates is due from each Episcopal District Bishop to the Office of the General Secretary.

May 21, 2024
General Conference Committee Assignments are due from each Episcopal District to the Office of the General Secretary.

May 21, 2024
Receipt of Proposed Legislation is due to the Office of the General Secretary.
ALL proposed legislation must be submitted via a special legislation template that will be provided by the office of the General Secretary beginning April 1, 2023, on the official website of the church (ame-church.com).

Legislation discussed or proposed at an AME CONVO does not constitute official submission to the office of the General Secretary. ALL proposed legislation must be submitted via the legislation template by midnight CST May 21, 2024.

June 1, 2024
Receipt of General Conference Reports from AME Church Officials is due to the Office of the General Secretary.
Video/PowerPoint Presentations and/or written reports are accepted. Video presentations should be no longer than 3 minutes. Please submit an electronic version of your report by the stated deadline. The reports will appear on the AMEC App for the General Conference. More details regarding the specs for the reports will be made available soon.

Recording Policy

Recording of sessions, other than those that are streamed, is Strictly Prohibited. No entity or individual may record any portion of the meeting without prior written consent the General Conference Commission. Unauthorized recording (audio, video, still photography, etc.), or streaming of presentations without the written consent of the General Conference Commission is strictly prohibited. The AME Church reserves the right to any approved audio and video production of presentations to all AME Church General Conference Events. Press representatives must have Media Credentials and photo/recording permission from the General Conference Commission.

Photo Policy

Attendees are encouraged to enjoy the General Conference experience. Capturing memories of casual meetings and networking activities is permitted with the permission of those being photographed. Photographing formal meeting presentations or displays is forbidden with the permission of the General Conference Commission. Those who do not comply with the AME Church’s photo policy may have their access to meeting content revoked.

Videos and Photos for AME Church Use

Attendance at the General Conference implies your consent to be photographed, lmed and/or otherwise recorded for use on the AME Church Website, publications, and social media pages. Please note that no technical presentations will be recorded without prior consent of the General Conference Commission.

All persons seeking office at the 2024 General Conference of the AME Church should submit a letter of intent to the Office of the General Secretary (cio@ame-church.com) indicating the office being sought in order to begin the process of certification.

All documents needed for certification of a candidate must be in the office of the General Secretary by the deadline of FEBRUARY 21, 2024.

All media outlets that wish to cover the 51st General Conference must register for credentials by June 21, 2021. AME Church members (photographers, writers) who are working in a professional press capacity also need to register for credentials. Media without the proper credentials will not be allowed access to the proceedings.
